“Life is too short to drink bad wines”
Hello! My name is Therése. I am a Professional Sommelier and I live in Como, Italy.
I love wine, and all that it entails, i.e. travel, meeting people, studying and of course wine tastings
I grew up on the island of Hönö in the western Swedish archipelago. I won a modeling contract in the early 90s with an agency based in Milan. Started traveling around the world as a model, but always came back to Milan at regular intervals.
I finally settled in the wonderful and beautiful city of Como! Eventually started working at my Swedish friend’s restaurant. An incredibly fun and educational period! However, I knew NOTHING about wine. Wasn’t very interested either to be honest….. One evening an American tourist asked me if Chianti was the name of the wine, a grape or a region. I had no idea! I felt like I should’ve known…I live in a fantastic wine country and work in a restaurant!
Enrolled to the sommelier course, but with the idea of doing only the first level (1 out of 3). Had no thought of becoming a Sommelier, just wanted a little more knowledge. I never would have guessed that this would be a turning point in my life!!!!! Never could I have believed that it would be so incredibly fun, and never would I have guessed that it would lead to new jobs. After even have been working at a star restaurant in Switzerland, I decided to complete another qualification, “Degustatore Ufficiale” (Official winetaster) With this qualification in hand, I belong to a selected sommelier group that, among other things, judges wines.
Not only has wine become a way of life with travel, events and fairs, I have also discovered that I love talking about wine!
